Serbian Judges’ Forum Days

Procedural Law and Practice in Environmental Protection

The fifth Serbian Judges’ Forum Days were held in Belgrade from 1 to 3 October 2025.

Prof. Dr Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović participated as moderator and speaker on a panel devoted to procedural law and environmental-protection practice. She presented recent Serbian case law and application of the Aarhus Convention’s three pillars in strengthening judicial protection of environmental rights.

The panel also included Natalia Kobylarz of the European Court of Human Rights and Silvia Martínez Cantón of the European Union Forum of Judges for the Environment. The programme was delivered in cooperation with the Council of Europe regional project on human rights and a sustainable environment.

The panel enabled direct exchange between Serbian judges and experts following European Court of Human Rights case law and the development of specialised judicial networks. Consideration of the Aarhus Convention’s three pillars focused on their practical implications for standing, access to evidence and the effectiveness of remedies.
