Environmental Law, Climate Security and Consumer Protection at the 31st OSCE EEF
An Environmental Law Clinic alumnus and master’s student participated as a panellist at the second preparatory meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum, held in Valletta on 19 and 20 June 2024.
With the support of the OSCE Mission, Veljko Milošević addressed the links between climate change and health and security risks, resource-related conflicts, migration and displacement. He also highlighted greenwashing and consumer-rights protection.
The Environmental Law Clinic model was presented as an approach through which clinical education develops knowledge and cooperation in environmental and climate change law.
The alumnus’s participation demonstrated that knowledge and skills acquired through the Environmental Law Clinic can be applied in international dialogue connecting the environment, security and human rights. The inclusion of a young lawyer’s perspective in discussion with representatives of states and international organisations was particularly significant. The activity also presented clinical legal education as a model for empowering young professionals.
