Jean Monnet Chair in European Environmental and Climate Change Law
Teaching, research and professional cooperation in European Union environmental and climate change law.
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Law is implementing the Jean Monnet Chair in European Environmental and Climate Change Law (JMC EECL) from 1 October 2023 to 1 October 2026, with co-funding from the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme. The Chair is held by Prof. Dr Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović.
The Chair strengthens teaching, research and professional training in European Union environmental law, climate change law, and the relevant case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. Its activities are intended for students at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, as well as judges, prosecutors, lawyers, public officials, civil society organisations and representatives of the business community.
Teaching and other project activities are implemented with the participation of Prof. Dr Milan Škulić, Prof. Dr Dobrosav Milovanović, Prof. Dr Ivana Krstić, Prof. Dr Bojana Čučković, Associate Professor Branka Babović Vuksanović and Assistant Professor Marija Vlajković.
The teaching and professional programme addresses, among other topics, climate justice and climate litigation, human rights, corporate sustainability and due diligence, sustainability reporting, the EU Taxonomy, the European Green Deal and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), gender equality in environmental and climate policy, and the relationship between the digital and green transitions.
The programme is implemented through courses, seminars, round tables, workshops, webinars, conferences, and the activities of the Environmental Law Clinic and the E-L-C Hub. This website provides selected teaching, research and information materials that can be made publicly available, while the complete teaching materials intended for enrolled students are distributed through the Moodle platform.
