Guest Lecture in Oslo 2025

Access to Climate Justice as a New Challenge in Implementing the Aarhus Convention

The guest lecture was delivered at the University of Oslo Faculty of Law in February 2025 within the Corporate Sustainability Law course and the Circle U. programme.

The lecture connected the Aarhus Convention, climate justice, corporate sustainability and the protection of collective consumer interests. It examined climate and corporate litigation involving TotalEnergies, KLM and Shell, Notre Affaire à Tous v. France, recent European Court of Human Rights case law and the proceedings before the International Court of Justice.

The activity created a basis for further cooperation between the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law and the University of Oslo in sustainability law.

Analysis of the selected cases enabled comparison of different procedural routes: human-rights protection, state responsibility for climate policy and corporate accountability for public claims and climate impacts. Discussion with Circle U. students supported exchange of teaching approaches and incorporation of recent case law into JMC EECL courses on climate litigation, access to justice and corporate sustainability.
