The European Association of Climate Law Established
The founding conference “Climate Law in Europe: Taking Stock – Looking Forward” was held in Berlin on 22 and 23 September 2025.
The conference brought together researchers and legal experts to discuss the development of European climate law, intergenerational justice, the role of litigation and legislation and legal instruments promoting corporate climate action.
Prof. Dr Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović was elected to the Executive Board of the newly established European Association of Climate Law. The Association provides a platform for legal cooperation, support for early-career researchers and stronger legal responses to climate change.
The establishment of the association responded to the need for a permanent European professional network in the rapidly developing field of climate law. Membership of the Executive Board enables participation in shaping research priorities, exchanging information on case law and supporting early-career researchers. For JMC EECL, this role provides a channel for continuing international cooperation after the project’s completion.
